Port Express, a family-owned logistics company, was established over 20 years ago by Tina and Karl Dawson, specialising in haulage and transport services. Based in the UK, the company operates with a growing fleet of over 100 vehicles, providing end-to-end transportation solutions for customers across the country. Nearly 11 years ago, Port Express became Fusion Communications’ very first customer, a partnership that has grown alongside the company’s expansion. Under the leadership of Adam Dawson, Operations Director, Port Express has embraced technology to ensure efficient, reliable service. Their commitment to excellence has earned them a reputation for delivering goods swiftly and securely, often working with large-scale ports and supply chain operations.
The Challenge
As Port Express expanded, managing communications across their fleet and remote drivers became increasingly complex. “We started with just five vehicles, but as we grew, it became clear that our old communications system couldn’t keep up with our operational demands,” said Adam Dawson. The company needed a system that would not only ensure efficient communication between drivers and the office but also offer enhanced control and security features, particularly for managing driver devices and rolling out necessary apps across their fleet.
Ensuring proper phone security and avoiding misuse by drivers were critical concerns. “We needed to lock down the devices to prevent abuse and make sure the right apps were installed and used correctly by our drivers,”. This also included the need for a smooth process to deploy Proof of Delivery (POD) apps to all drivers without disrupting daily operations.
